Miss Selfridge High Summer / 2014 Press Day

A few weeks ago I was invited along to the Miss Selfridge high summer press day. A welcome afternoon break in a stressful week, I arrived to a bellini and some beautiful clothing. Florals, tassels, embellishments, sequins, sheer, lace, beading were the main features in the form of playsuits, kimonos, maxi dresses, two pieces and midi and minis, structured and unstructured pieces, it was seriously the perfect collection for festivals. Can I pack it all please? All displayed in the beautiful setting of Salle de Fête at Kettner's in central London.

I fell in love with the mahogany coloured peacock chairs there. I'm on the hunt for the perfect one for our new flat-it's actually got obsessive to the point where I nearly wanted to move into a grubby flat the other day only because it came with a peacock chair. Dan had to have a word with me. Anyway, not only did I get to view the whole collection, I got my hair braided by a lovely girl from Cheeky Parlour, and got taught how to make my own real flower crown (below) by Foxgloves & Glory. Such a pretty press day with some beautiful pieces that left me really excited for summer.

For Lovers, For Dreamers

Dress: Jarlo*
Fringe Waistcoat: Texas Present
Ring: Henryka*
Crochet Coat: Spell and the Gypsy Collective
Sunglasses: ASOS

Prancing around pretending in a garden I'm at Coachella. Fringe, tassels, lace and crochet are some of my favourite things so managing to get them all in one outfit I was quite pleased with myself, and as Jarlo asked me to style a festival themed outfit around this beautiful lace maxi, I chose to style it in what I would have worn if I was going. This outfit is definitely going to make an appearance at a UK festival this summer though as I love it. This super special custom made Daughter of the Tribe necklace is going to have a post all of it's own really soon as I've also been asked to guest post for their blog which I'm really excited about. What I wouldn't give to shoot in an actual desert though. Sigh. This pretty amber Henryka ring is the perfect compliment to complete my festival look, not only does it match my fringe waistcoat, but it balances out the statement necklaces too.

These were actually taken a few weeks ago, but I've only just got around to posting them because I literally don't have time to have a life anymore. Sad but true. To make things even more busy we're currently in the middle of trying to find a flat, so posting will become a bit infrequent whilst I'm looking, so sorry if I go a bit quiet. You can still follow me on instagram and twitter  for more regular updates (@sara_waiste) and of course I'll be uploading new vintage to Waiste every week. Seriously not enough hours in the day.

Ash SS14 Collection x Sara Waiste

Screen shots from the Ash Footwear Collaboration Video

Sometimes all you really need, is to dance your problems away. A few weeks ago, I shot a video for Ash footwear in which I twirled around in their new collection shoes and it felt really good.

I remember I'd been having a pretty low week that week, quite a few things had been going wrong and when I arrived at the Ash offices, I was feeling quite self conscious about dancing in front of strangers, even if they were the other side of the room. Fifteen minutes later and I couldn't care less. It was just what I needed. If you're feeling a little sad, all you need to do every so often is to put on your favourite outfit, your favourite song and let it all go.

Have a look at the new Ash footwear collection here, and the video below or here.
