Spending a lazy Sunday listening to the Velvet Underground of course. The late 60s early 70s will always be, in my opinion , the absolute best decades of both music and style. I'm not one for following any trends or fashion or 'what's in right now', my style is just me regardless of what's 'in' or not, if I like it, I'll wear it, I dress for me. Of course the 70s style is a great love of mine, vintage pieces making up a lot of my wardrobe of course.
Obviously there has been a recent resurgence into the 70s trends (thanks a lot Saint Laurent) which was bound to happen again sooner or later, although it's great for business and the fact I can buy bell bottoms that fit properly, it does actually annoy me in the fact that I really don't want to see cheap knockoff mass produced highstreet pieces of iconic styles everywhere. Cheap mass produced crochet/penny lane style coats are my ultimate pet hate.
I just think if you're going to do a trend, do it right. Buy vintage. Not only are you buying a completely one off unique piece that has lived through that very decade (and if could talk think what tales it could tell) you're also helping the environment and looking awesome in the process. Now I think that's pretty cool. And if you can't find vintage versions of the pieces you want, try and shop at ethical, independent or handmade clothing companies instead, there's some great ones out there, especially 70s inspired, I might do a post on them in the future.
