The bigger the better. At the moment I just can’t get enough of a good old puff sleeve. I will go as far as to say all my none puff sleeve dresses just don’t look as good? I feel like there’s something missing, they just add so much more to a dress right now. Maybe I’m going through a phase, or maybe they’re here to stay, well for the rest of summer at least anyway.  And they just suit everyone! I’ve seriously never met a puff sleeve I didn’t like… Also how many times can I actually say puff sleeves in this blog post (don’t count).

There’s some serious puff on these sleeves. Gifted from And Other Stories

If you buy one dress this summer, please make it a puff sleeve one. My personal favourites below are the snakeskin Faithfull one I bought a couple of months ago and haven’t stopped wearing since, I get so many compliments on it ! It’s seriously so good I might bag the floral version below too, it’s been in and out of my basket so many times, also that ASOS one is a retro dream. But next on my hit list is that B&ash yellow maxi dress I’ve now got my heart set on it.

I like to accessorise mine with some gold shell jewellery and a basket bag.

Omg no matter how many times I ask Oliver to get his finger away from the lens….

So the quality’s not great, finger on the lens half the time I asked for a photo, bit blurry but remember the days when you didn’t have a million photos to agonise over, there was one shot and that was it. These were all shot on a disposable camera I picked up at Boots in the airport, and I almost love the bad quality of these in a way.

I’m definitely looking into shooting more on film for myself, I’ve been doing a little with Sophie as she has a film camera, but I really want one now. For a start my camera is (still) broken so I don’t want to be lugging my big clunky canon camera everywhere. If anyone has got any suggestions for film cameras let me know.

This blog post is a little delayed as I’ve just got back from Cyprus and had about a million things to catch up on, I tried to really switch off and relax on holiday, but I went from a relaxing 28C heat only to come back to freezing cold and rain, which was definitely unexpected (good old British summertime hey) and made me feel quite unmotivated to be honest. I’ve (nearly) got myself back into the swing of things though and the sun has made an appearance today (hiiiii sun) so I’m feeling a little more positive! And speaking of positive, the actual point of this blog post is all about Farfetch and their new Conscious Edit

“Farfetch exists for the love of fashion. We believe in empowering individuality. Our mission is to be the global technology platform for luxury fashion, connecting creators, curators and consumers.”

If you’ve not heard of it before, Farfetch is a luxury and designer boutique website which stocks many of my favourite brands to lust after, and they’ve just launched a new ‘Positively Conscious’ collection. This features some great brands such as Reformation (whose dress I’m wearing in this post) Mara Hoffman and Brother Vellies to name a few. They have four key aspects of Positively under their Sustainability tab on their website and I learnt about them when I headed to Graduate fashion week.

I was invited to the Graduate Fashion Week in East London with Farfetch to look at all the students amazing work and to listen to a talk by Thomas Berry, who is the Head of Sustainability at Farfetch. He explained in the talk all about how Farfetch was becoming a much more sustainable business with their four key factors:

Positively Cleaner, Postively Conscious, Positively Circular and Positively Changing

POSITIVELY CLEANER: New recycled packaging, reducing carbon footprint, and making distribution more efficient.

POSTIVELY CONSCIOUS: Farfetch are championing products, brands, boutiques and people that are positively conscious and enabling customers to make positive choices that consider the environment, society and welfare.

POSITIVELY CIRCULAR: Reducing waste, extending the life of clothes-introducing ‘made to order’ repairs, resale and recycling services, including a new vintage section.

POSITIVELY CHANGING: Engaging and empowering people to create within the fashion industry, and giving employees the platform to really make a difference.

From a customer/consumer point of view it was so great to hear all the positive changes and conscious ways a massive company like Farfetch is leading the way to making a difference and trying to engage and change the fashion industry in a big way.

Becoming aware of sustainability and how the industry and we as consumers are impacting the environment is such a big talking point right now and rightly so. Being a fashion blogger myself, I feel like it’s of course part of my job to try and get this message across too, as well as doing it myself and being more much conscious in my shopping habits, where I shop and how often. Whether it be saving up and investing in timeless classics rather than cheap fast fashion I’ll get bored of quickly. Or researching brands for the best affordable and sustainable ones out there, and finding new ones to share with you. And of course shopping vintage!

Don’t get me wrong I am no where near perfect and I’m still learning, but I’ve really noticed a difference in my shopping habits and it was so great to hear how Farfetch is really making a difference.

I’m always drawn to more vintage inspired pieces when clothes shopping rather than modern. French Connection, a absolute classic of a premium high street brand (created in 1972) have just brought out their beautiful new collection for this Spring summer season which includes some 60s inspired pieces. All of the pieces in the collection are super stylish, wearable, and designed to be staple pieces for years to come. They’ve created a collection full of pretty pieces, and their vintage inspired pieces have a modern twist (which is usually what I like to describe my style as) using on trend patterns and fabrics, but whilst still keeping classic silhouettes and shapes.

No we all know I’m definitely a dress girl at heart, I find them so easy and versatile to wear, so of course I chose four of the prettiest French Connection dresses to style in my own way. The thing I love about dresses is they can be dressed up or dressed down (depending on your mood) They make me feel pretty and feminine, and they’re the easiest thing to throw on when you have nothing else to wear, but want to feel great. An instant mood lifter.

BRODERIE DRESS: FRENCH CONNECTION, RECYCLED LEATHER BUCKET BAG: FRENCH CONNECTION

My favourite kind of dress is a floaty white one, so I was immediately drawn to this pretty lace one, and it definitely looks like it could be vintage. Perfect with basket bags and sandals for summer don’t you think? The bow detailing and floaty butterfly sleeves add something a little bit different and I can see myself living in this come summer, flowers in my hair optional.

GINGHAM MIDI DRESS: FRENCH CONNECTION, CROSSBODY BAG: FRENCH CONNECTION

This pretty gingham dress is the perfect vintage summer shape, in this seasons favourite material. With the pretty embroidered detailing and full skirt this is summer ready and looks great layered with a T-shirt and denim jacket, so versatile you can wear this to work or to a BBQ.

FLORAL WRAP DRESS: FRENCH CONNECTION, BUCKET BAG: FRENCH CONNECTION

The floral midi dress has to be a summer staple for any wardrobe. The cut of this makes you feel good as soon as you put it on, the added slits making it a little sexier, and a midi length is always so flattering. The beautiufl lilac colour and floral pattern is still so on trend whilst still looking like you could have found it in a vintage store.

WHITE STRAPPY MIDI: FRENCH CONNECTION, CROSSBODY BAG: FRENCH CONNECTION

One of my favourites to wear, this white midi dress in the sofest cotton has the cut out detailing to the hem and those pockets, this is the kind of dress you always wished you could find the vintage version of but never quite managed-but the cut and fit of it will ensure this stays in your wardrobe for years to come.

We had so much fun creating this picnic inspired vintage style shoot, styling the outfits and adding the French connection rug for a picnic blanket, adding some complimentary accessories, the pop of colour with the red sandals, and I love how the bag almost looks like it could be a picnic basket. With all the flowers in my hair, trying to recreate that nostalgic vintage feeling of that sixties summer when everyone was barefoot and carefree.

SANDALS GIFTED: JONAK, TOP AND SKIRT GIFTED: AND OTHER STORIES, EMMA WALLACE

I love a white sandal with a low heel for summer. They go with literally anything, and I always find there’s something vintage looking about a sandal in white. I lived in my Topshop ones all last year and although they have now sadly sold out I’ve linked an ASOS alternative below. I’ve just got the strappy Arket ones below and I’ve now got my eye on those Office ones. And the Gucci ones. And the Chloe ones. Sigh. Oh and PSA I got some beautiful tan Chloe mules from Vestiaire Collective so if you’re looking for designer ones without the price tag it’s definitely worth checking them out for preloved/vintage ones!

And the best accessory for those sandals? A shell anklet of course. I got mine from Etsy.
